Size Chart

UK ring sizes are letters, running from about F to Z. This page converts between UK letter sizes, European numbers, US numbers and the actual measurement of your finger in millimetres.

How to measure your ring size at home

You need a strip of paper around 5mm wide, or a piece of string, and a ruler marked in millimetres.

Wrap the paper or string around the base of the finger the ring will sit on, snug but not tight.
Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. That is your finger circumference.
Find the closest circumference in the chart below and read across for your UK, European or US size.

Measuring a ring you already own

If you have a ring that fits the same finger, measure the inside edge to edge in millimetres. That is the inside diameter — the second column in the chart.

Can you measure a ring size on your phone?

Not reliably. Phone screens differ in size and in how they scale images, so an on-screen ring sizer can be out by a full size or more. Printed sizers only work if the page is printed at exactly 100% with no scaling. A strip of paper and a ruler is more accurate than either.

Converting US and European ring sizes to UK

European ring sizes are the finger circumference in millimetres, so a European 54 means 54mm around the finger. UK sizes are letters and US sizes are numbers, and neither converts by a fixed offset — read across the chart below rather than adding or subtracting.

These are the conversions looked up most often:

US 5 is UK J 1/2
US 6 is UK L 1/2
US 7 is UK N 1/2
US 8 is UK P 1/2
US 9 is UK R 1/2
US 10 is UK T 1/2
US 11 is UK V 1/2
US 12 is UK X 1/2

Going the other way, whole UK letters often fall between two US sizes — a UK L sits between US 5 1/2 and US 6 — which is why some cells in the chart are left blank.

Three things worth knowing before you measure

Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are at their largest when warm, and swell slightly in heat.
The knuckle has to pass through. If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, size to the knuckle instead.
Wide bands sit tighter than narrow ones. Baltic Dew rings are approximately 10mm high as standard, so if you fall between two sizes, go up by half a size.

Each ring is cut and shaped to a fixed size, so it cannot be resized afterwards. That is why you enter your size when ordering rather than picking from stock.

Are the colours natural or painted?

The colours come from the skateboard's own dyed layers — that's how the board was made, I don't add any dye or paint myself.

How do I know what ring size to order?

You can check the size guide linked on this listing. If you're unsure, go up by half a size for comfort.

Are the rings waterproof?

Rings have the most durable coating of all my jewellery, but they're still water-resistant rather than waterproof — best to avoid prolonged exposure to water.

How long does a wooden ring last?

Skateboard maple is dense laminated ply rather than solid softwood, and each ring is sealed to harden the surface. Customers wear theirs daily for a year or two and longer. Following the care guide — keeping it dry, away from heat and direct sunlight — makes the difference. If the finish dulls with wear, get in touch and it can usually be refreshed.

Can you wear a wooden ring as a wedding ring?

Yes. They're made to order in UK ring sizes and are worn as wedding and commitment bands, including matching couple sets in the same colour layers. They're lighter than metal and contain no metal at all, which suits people with metal sensitivities. Because the wood is water-resistant rather than waterproof, they suit everyday wear but should come off for swimming or washing up.

Do you make wooden rings for men?

Yes. Every ring is made to order in your UK ring size, so the same designs suit any hand. The standard band is approximately 10mm high and 2.5–3mm thick. A slim version at around 6mm high is available for a narrower look.

How much do the rings cost?

All recycled skateboard wood rings are £30, including the slim profile and custom orders where you choose the colour direction, band width and UK size.

Can wooden rings be resized?
